Bio

Honors, Accolades, and Achievements

Wendy is Board Certified in Matrimonial Law. She is a founding Member of the Family Law Section of the Alabama State Bar, holding every office in the section, some of them twice. She was honored to be chosen Lawyer of the Year by that organization.

She is a Delegate to the American College of Family Trial Lawyers, an invitation-only organization of 100 lawyers in the United States, and the only Delegate from Alabama. She is a Fellow and incoming President of the U.S. Chapter of the International Academy of Family Lawyers. Wendy is a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and the Chair of the Alabama Chapter. She was a U.S. Delegate to the International Congress of Family and the Law, Havana, Cuba; a Member of the Chief Justice’s TASC Force on the Reformation of the Domestic Practice, and a Member of the 11th Circuit Committee on the Future of the Circuit.

She serves on the Standing Committee for the Alabama Rules of Civil Procedure and the Alabama Lawyers’ Hall of Fame Committee. She was published as a co-author in the Family Advocate (Fall 2021) Solutions for Problems Presented with Virtual Trials and a contributing author for International Relocation of Children: A Global Guide. Wendy is a Life Member of the Alabama Law Foundation, a Member of the Atticus Finch Society, and a Life Fellow of the Birmingham Bar Association.

She has been chosen for the Top 25 Women Attorneys in Alabama as well as the Top 100 Lawyers in Alabama. She is consistently named to Top Lawyers, Super Lawyers, B-Metro’s Top Flight Lawyers, and Best Lawyers and frequently lectures both nationally and internationally on domestic relations and family law issues.

Community Involvement

Wendy, along with a local high school teacher, implemented the Street Law Program at Cumberland School of Law, where she was an adjunct professor. She co-authored the book “Play by the Rules” to use in the Street Law Program and was on the Board of Directors for the Alabama Center for Civic Law and Education.

An early Member of the AIDS TASC Force of Alabama, Wendy served on its Executive Committee. Wendy served on various boards in the Arts community, particularly committees with the Virginia Samford Theater and Summerfest. She was also Chairman of Childrens First Foundation, which oversees the distribution of millions of dollars yearly to state agencies for children from Tobacco Tax proceeds.
